WHY LIGHT A CANDLE
Why light a candle in Fatima?
In the Christian tradition, light is a symbol of faith, truth, wisdom, virtue, grace, the divine life, charity, the ardor of prayer and the sacred presence which flow from Christ Himself.
With this background, we can appreciate the usage of votive candles.
The light signifies our prayer offered in faith coming into the light of God. With the light of faith, we petition our Lord in prayer, or petition Our Lady of Fatima to pray with us and for us to the Lord.
Also, the burning candle symbolized a sacrifice, which is made in both the offering of the prayer and the acceptance of the Lord's Will.
The Shrine of Fatima has a long-established tradition of the lighting of the candles by the pilgrims who seek the grace and miracles of Our Lady of Fatima. Thousands of them light their candles as a way of honoring a promise made to the Blessed Virgin, after the granting of a requested blessing. They come from all around the world to pay their respects to Our Lady, so that their light can shine among millions of others. It is a sign of love, devotion, sacrifice, and respect to both Fatima and the Catholic Church, so most Catholics light candles not just for themselves, but also for their loved ones.
In all, the usage of votive candles is a pious practice which continues today in many churches. The symbolism does remind us that prayer is a "coming into" the light of Christ, allowing our souls to be filled with His light, and letting that light burn on in our souls even though we may return to our other activities.

History of Our Lady of Fátima
History of Our Lady of Fátima
In 1917, in the small village of Fátima, Portugal, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children: Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco. Between May and October, on the 13th of each month, the children reported seeing a luminous Lady who brought messages of prayer, peace, and devotion to the world.
During these apparitions, Our Lady entrusted the children with three secrets and called for prayer, especially the Rosary, as a path to conversion and hope for humanity.
The final apparition, on October 13, 1917, was witnessed by tens of thousands of people who had gathered in Fátima, Portugal. Many reported seeing the extraordinary Miracle of the Sun, a phenomenon in which the sun appeared to dance across the sky.
Today, the Sanctuary of Fátima, Portugal stands as one of the most important Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world, welcoming millions of pilgrims each year who come to pray, honor Our Lady of Fátima, and seek her message of peace.
So excited i hae a candle burning for my Dad
Confused. I usually get a video of the candle being lit. This order is noted to be "Delivered" yet I have not received the video. Disappointed.
